Las Vegas was founded in 1905. The name means 'The Meadows" in Spanish. Incorporated March 16, 1911. Nevada means 'Snow Capped' in Spanish. It became a U.S. territory on March 2, 1861 and the 36th state on October 31, 1864, Clark County was founded on February 5, 1908 named after late U.S. Senator William A. Clark.
